Your own place, with a neighborhood built in
Independent living suits people who manage their days well and simply want less upkeep and more company. Residents rent a one or two bedroom apartment or a garden cottage, keep their own schedule and use as many of the shared spaces and services as they like.
The appeal is often practical at first: no lawn, no roof, no worries about a broken water heater in January. What keeps residents here is the company. Most mornings the coffee bar fills up before eight, and the woodshop has a waiting list.
What is included
- Maintenance-free living: repairs, landscaping, snow clearing and appliance service handled by our own crew.
- Dining your way: a monthly meal allowance for the bistro and main dining room, with private dining for family visits.
- Getting around: scheduled shuttles to shops, appointments and cultural events across Raleigh.
- Staying active: a warm-water pool, fitness studio, walking trails and instructor-led classes.
Room to grow
If health needs change later, assisted living and memory care support are a short walk across the courtyard. Residents keep their friends, their dining tables and their favorite staff, which spares families a second search at a stressful moment.
| Home style | Approximate size |

Sizes and availability are illustrative. A member of our team can walk you through current homes and show you the cottages in person.
A typical week
Mondays tend to start with the walking club on the garden loop, followed by coffee in the bistro. Midweek brings lectures from local professors, the woodshop and the watercolor studio, and Thursday evenings are for live music in the lounge. Weekends are quieter, with brunch, family visits and a shuttle to the farmers market downtown.
Residents set the agenda as much as staff do. The resident council meets monthly to plan outings, suggest menu changes and welcome newcomers, and several of our most popular clubs, from the book circle to the bocce league, were started by residents who simply asked for a room and a time slot.
Getting started
The best first step is a visit. Come for lunch, tour a model apartment and a cottage, and talk with residents who have already made the move. When you are ready, our team will explain availability, monthly fees and what is included, all in writing and without pressure to decide on the spot.
Dining and wellness
Our chefs cook from scratch with seasonal produce from nearby North Carolina farms. Residents can drop into the bistro for a casual bite, reserve the private dining room for birthdays, or join a seasonal supper in the main dining room. A wellness coordinator leads warm-water exercise, tai chi and balance classes, and the fitness studio is open from early morning until late evening.
