Four coached tracks, each with a beginner lane, a skills block and a live round you can opt out of. Kids and adults train in separate groups.

Kids Jiu-Jitsu

Short drills, clear rules and a lot of repetition. Our kids classes teach balance, escapes and control before anything competitive, and every group is split by age so nobody trains above their size.

  • Balance and falling safely first
  • Size-matched partners in every game
  • Monthly progress note for parents

Adult Jiu-Jitsu

Grips, frames and position before submissions. Beginners drill in a separate lane for the first eight weeks, then join the main round with people who know how to train carefully.

  • Eight-week beginner lane
  • Optional live rounds, never required
  • Gi classes plus no-gi classes weekly

Muay Thai and Boxing

Pad work, footwork and conditioning that actually improves your timing. Partner drills are controlled, contact is agreed before the round, and the coach sets the pace for the room.

  • Contact agreed before every round
  • Loaner gloves for your first month
  • Sparring is a separate class

Wrestling and MMA

For members who already train and want the ranges stitched together. Takedowns, clinch work and transitions, taught as one chain rather than three separate sports.

IRONROOT Martial Arts Cedar Park Training Floor
Inside the Room

A Room That
Rewards Showing Up

Ironroot is a single-floor training center in Cedar Park, Texas with 3,400 square feet of mats, a six-bag striking wall and a desk that answers the phone. We are not a fight team with a beginner class attached. The beginner lane is the front door, and most of the room came through it.

Classes are capped so coaches can watch every pair. Technique is broken into three parts and drilled slowly before the pace goes up. If you want to compete, two coaches will corner you. If you never want to compete, nobody will ask twice.

  • Step By Step Drilling

Every technique is broken into three parts and drilled slowly before the pace goes up.

  • A Floor You Can Trust

Mats are cleaned between every class and the equipment is replaced on a schedule, not when it fails.

  • No Experience Needed

More than half our members walked in with none. The beginner lane exists for exactly that.

  • Progress You Can Name

Coaches keep a simple skill sheet, so you always know the next thing you are working on.

The Coaching Team

The People on the Mat With You

Three full-time coaches and four assistants. Credentials below are illustrative for this demo build.

Jiu-Jitsu

Dario Velez

Head Jiu-Jitsu Coach

  • Black belt, sixteen years on the mat
  • Regional open division medalist
  • Twelve years coaching adults

Dario built the eight-week beginner lane that most of our adult members start in. He teaches position before submission, checks in with every pair during a round, and would rather you drill one escape well than collect ten.

Muay Thai and Boxing

Kiet Sompong

Striking Coach

  • Twenty-two amateur and professional bouts
  • Certified pad-holding instructor
  • Nine years coaching striking

Kiet runs the pad rounds and sets the contact level before gloves go on. His footwork drills feel simple for two weeks, then quietly fix your balance.

Kids Program

Renna Delacroix

Kids Program Lead

  • Youth coaching certification
  • Former collegiate wrestler
  • Seven years teaching children

Renna writes the monthly plan for every kids group and trains the assistants. Loud in the warm up, quiet in the technique block, which is why six-year-olds stay with it.

Getting Going

Your First Week
In Four Steps

Booking a free class takes about two minutes and commits you to nothing. Here is exactly what happens after you send it.

A small group of adult beginners sitting on mats listening to a coach
01

Pick the Room

Tell us your age group and whether you want grappling, striking or both. We will name the two classes that fit.

02

Book the Free Class

Call the desk or send the form. We reply the same day with a time and what to bring, which is very little.

03

Walk In Early

Arrive fifteen minutes ahead. A coach walks you around the floor, shows you the mats and answers the awkward questions.

04

Train, Then Decide

Take the class, stay for a chat, then decide. Nobody signs anything on the first night at Ironroot.

  • The first class is free, with no card on file.
  • Loaner gloves, wraps and a uniform are at the desk.

What Our Members Tell Us

Reviews are illustrative for this demo, written to show how the layout carries long and short quotes side by side.

My daughter started at seven and could not stand still for a minute. Two years on she runs the warm up for the little group. Coaches never raised a voice, they just kept handing her one small thing to fix each week. We came for self defence and got a kid who finishes what she starts.

The 6:00 AM class means I train before work and my evenings stay mine. The plan is already on the board when I walk in tired, so I never have to think about what we are drilling. Eighteen months here and no injury layoff, which never happened at the last gym.

Devon A.Wrestling and MMA member

The contact level gets said out loud before every round, and the coach holds the room to it. That one habit is why I still drive across town three nights a week.

Sasha M.Muay Thai member

Forty-six, and I had never trained anything in my life. The beginner lane meant nobody could hurt me by accident while I learned to fall, frame and breathe. I joined the main round in week nine.

Before You Start

Questions Before
Your First Class?

If the answer you need is not here, the desk will give you a straight one on the phone.

Do I need any experience to start?

No. Most people who book a free class have never trained. Adults start in an eight-week beginner lane and kids are grouped by age, so your first session is with people at the same point you are.

What should I wear to the first class?

Shorts or leggings and a fitted t-shirt. Bring a water bottle and leave jewellery at home. Gloves, wraps and a loaner uniform are at the desk for your first month at no charge.

How young can children start?

Our youngest group starts at five. Classes run 45 minutes and are split into two age bands so a five-year-old is never partnered with an eleven-year-old.

Will I have to spar or compete?

Only if you choose to. Live rounds are optional in every adult class, and sparring is a separate invitation-only session. Competition is something we support, not something we expect.

Can I put a membership on hold?

Yes. Holds are available in monthly blocks for travel, injury or work, and we do not charge a fee to restart. Ask the desk and it is done the same day.

Do you have parking and showers?

There are thirty free spaces in front of the unit and two showers with lockers. Towels are not provided, so bring your own if you are heading straight to work.
