About this treatment

Wrinkle relaxers are purified neuromodulator proteins injected in tiny amounts into specific muscles. When those muscles relax, the skin above them creases less, so forehead lines, frown lines between the brows and crow's feet at the corners of the eyes tend to soften. Many clients notice the first change around day five, with the full effect settling by day fourteen.

At Halden House every wrinkle relaxer appointment is done by a nurse practitioner or registered nurse, after a consultation where we watch you talk, frown and smile. We dose for movement you want to keep. Most clients start conservatively and adjust at the two-week check-in, which is included. Results typically last three to four months, and the timeline varies with metabolism, dose and area.

Your first appointment starts with a conversation rather than a needle. We ask which lines bother you in photographs, how expressive your job is, and whether you have had injections before and how they felt. Then we watch you frown, squint and raise your brows in a mirror while we mark the plan on a diagram, never on your skin. Many first-time clients choose one area only, often the frown lines, and add a second area at a later visit once they know how their face responds. We write down the units used for each area so the next appointment starts from facts rather than memory, and so any provider on our team can repeat or adjust the plan.

Client words

“I asked for less than I thought I needed and it was exactly right. Nobody at work has noticed, they just keep asking if I have been sleeping better.”

Questions

Asked at every consult.

How long do wrinkle relaxers last?
Most clients see results for about three to four months. Frown lines often hold a little longer than crow's feet, and people who exercise heavily sometimes notice a shorter window. We will note your timeline at the two-week check-in so the next appointment is planned rather than guessed.
Does it hurt?
Most people describe a quick pinch. The needles are very fine and each injection takes a second or two. We can apply a topical numbing cream or ice first if you prefer.
Will I look frozen?
Not if the dose is planned for you. We start conservatively, keep movement in the areas you want to keep, and adjust at the check-in if you would like a little more softening.
Who does the injections?
Every injection at Halden House is done by our nurse practitioner or a registered nurse working under her supervision, after an in-person consultation.
Is there anything that rules me out?
Pregnancy, breastfeeding, some neuromuscular conditions and certain medications can mean we pause or decline. We go through your health history at the consult.
Can I combine wrinkle relaxers with filler?
Yes, and many plans do, but rarely on the same day at a first visit. Relaxers soften movement while filler restores volume, so we usually let the relaxer settle for two weeks and then decide together whether filler is still needed.
