When the garden lights up
Our grounds team spends most of November wrapping the garden in warm white lights. On Winter Lights Evening we switch them on together at dusk. Residents and guests stroll the paved loop, which is level and lit for wheelchairs and walkers, with staff along the route offering an arm and a scarf.
Warming up afterward
Back inside, the Hearth Room serves cocoa, spiced cider and shortbread baked by residents in the teaching kitchen. A choir from a nearby school sings seasonal songs, and there are quieter seats in the library for anyone who would rather watch the lights from a window.
