Regaining strength in comfort, close to home
After a fall, a joint replacement or a hospital stay, going straight home can feel like a lot. A recovery stay at Bramblewood bridges that gap. Guests have a private suite, help with daily routines while they heal, and access to physical, occupational and speech therapy from an outpatient partner that works on our campus.
Our nursing team coordinates with the discharging hospital and your physicians so that orders, medicines and follow-up visits are organized before you arrive. Therapy schedules are set by your therapists, and our staff help you practice between sessions.
What is included
- Therapy close by: a fully equipped therapy gym with parallel bars, stairs and a practice kitchen.
- Daily support: help with bathing, dressing and getting around while strength returns.
- Nursing check-ins: wound checks, medication reminders and updates shared with your care team.
- Going home ready: a home safety walk-through and equipment advice before discharge.
Planning the stay
Most recovery stays last two to six weeks. We talk with your family about goals at the start and check progress weekly, so everyone knows when going home is the right next step. Some guests decide to stay on in assisted living, and that is fine too.
| Week | Typical focus |
|---|---|
| Week 1 | Settling in, pain management with your physician and short therapy sessions |
| Weeks 2 to 3 | Building stamina, safe transfers and walking further each day |
| Weeks 4 and on | Practicing home tasks, a home visit and planning the trip back |
Insurance coverage for therapy varies. We can walk you through payment options and help you understand what your plan may cover before you book.
Coordinating with the hospital
The days before a hospital discharge can move quickly. If you are considering a recovery stay, call us as early as possible. Our nurse will speak with the hospital discharge planner, review orders and medicines, and confirm that a suite and therapy schedule are ready. Many families find that a single point of contact takes a great deal of stress out of the process.
On arrival, guests meet their care partner, unpack in a furnished suite and have a short conversation with our nurse about pain, mobility and goals. Therapy usually begins within a day or two, according to the plan set by your therapists.
Life between sessions
Recovery is not only exercises. Guests are welcome at meals in the dining room, music hour and the gentle afternoon classes, so the days feel social rather than clinical. Family members often join for lunch, and our staff can arrange quiet time in the garden on good-weather afternoons, which many guests say lifts their spirits more than anything else.
