Respite and Short-Term Stays

A furnished suite, full support and good company for a week or longer, so the person who usually does the caring can take a breath.

  • Furnished suites
  • Stays from seven days
  • Full meal plan
  • Daily activity calendar

A real break for caregivers, a good stay for your parent

Caring for a parent at home is loving work, and it is also exhausting. A respite stay gives the family caregiver time to rest, travel, attend a wedding or recover from their own surgery, while their loved one enjoys a comfortable suite and a full calendar.

Short-stay guests receive the same support as long-term residents: help with daily routines, medication reminders, chef-led meals and every class and outing on the schedule. Many guests use a stay as a low-pressure trial of community life.

How a stay works

  • Book ahead: reserve seven days or longer. Short-notice stays are possible when a suite is open.
  • A quick assessment: our nurse reviews routines, mobility and medicines a few days before arrival.
  • Move in light: suites are furnished with linens and towels. Bring clothes, photos and a favorite chair if you like.
  • Stay in touch: we send a short note every few days and call right away if anything comes up.

What families tell us

The most common surprise is how quickly guests settle in. Within a few days most have a regular table at lunch and a seat at the afternoon trivia game. Caregivers come back rested, and often with a clearer sense of what support might look like next.

Stay lengthGood for

30 days or moreA trial of community life before a permanent decision

Planning ahead for the next break

Many caregivers find it helpful to schedule respite before they reach the point of exhaustion. Booking a stay every few months, or around predictable events such as holidays and family trips, makes each visit easier because your loved one already knows the staff and the routine.

Daily rates for respite include the furnished suite, meals, housekeeping, activities and help with daily routines. We share pricing in writing before you book, and there is no long-term commitment. If you would like to see a suite first, we are happy to arrange a lunch visit so your parent can look around and meet a few neighbors before the stay begins.

Questions

Questions about respite stays

Short, honest answers to what families ask us most often about this kind of support.

What is the shortest stay you offer?

Most respite stays are seven days or longer. If a suite is open we can sometimes arrange a shorter stay, so it is always worth a call.

Can a respite stay turn into a permanent move?

Yes. Many families use a stay as a trial. If your parent wants to stay on, we help with the transition and simply update the care plan.

What should we pack?

Clothes for a week or two, toiletries, any medicines in their original containers, and a few personal items like photos or a favorite blanket.

Are respite guests included in activities?

Absolutely. Guests join every class, outing and dining event, and our life enrichment team makes a point of introducing them around.

Respite stories

After a short stay

"I needed knee surgery and had nobody to stay with Dad. Two weeks at Bramblewood gave me time to heal, and he came home with a new card-playing friend."

Lisa M., Daughter of a respite guest

"We used a respite week as a trial. By day four Mom asked if she could keep her suite. We moved her in the following month."

Andre T., Son of a resident

"The updates every few days meant I actually relaxed on our anniversary trip instead of checking my phone every hour."

Kay B., Wife of a respite guest

"I came for two weeks after a hospital stay and left stronger, rested and with three new friends from the morning stretch class."

Ron P., Former respite guest

"The staff took the time to learn exactly how Grandma likes her evenings. It was the first full night of sleep I had in a year."

Mira S., Granddaughter and caregiver

"Booking was easy, the suite was spotless and nobody made us feel guilty for needing a break. We will be back next summer."

Dale F., Son of a respite guest
