A small crew on purpose. You get a text with the name and the face of whoever is driving to you.
Walt Dempsey
Founder, master plumber
On the tools since 1994
Walt served his time in an Amityville shop, spent a decade on somebody else's payroll, then bought a van and a phone line. He is still out on calls most of the week and has met more bad pipe than anybody on this shore.
Brian Dempsey
Scheduling & estimates
On the tools since 2009
Walt's son, and the reason the van shows up when we said it would. Brian prices the renovation work, plans the week and deals with anything the town wants on paper first.
Hector Alvarez
Senior service tech
On the tools since 2012
Hector covers most of the out-of-hours work and turns up leaks that have already beaten two other outfits. He would rather walk you to the fault with a torch than describe it in the driveway.
Carol Dempsey
Runs the office
Answering the phone since 1999
First ring, every time, and she is the one who ranks the day. Nine calls out of ten she knows from your opening sentence whether a van goes out tonight or Thursday morning.
Why they call back
Quiet, Careful, and Finished When We Said.
The habits have not changed in twenty-six years. Turn up inside the window, show you the problem, invoice the figure we quoted. It is not clever. It is just rare.
“Tank quit on a Sunday afternoon with a full house. Hector had a heater on the van and was here in two hours, and the figure he wrote at the door is the figure I paid.”
Rosa T.Lindenhurst · Water heater swap“
“Two outfits told me the whole sewer run had to come out. Walt put a camera down, showed me the screen, and it was one bad joint. Targeted dig, a third of the money.”
Ed K.Copiague · Sewer line repair“
“Two floods in three years before we rang them. New pit, proper pump, backup battery, and they re-graded the bed outside that two other firms walked straight past. Bone dry since.”
Nina B.Massapequa Park · Basement water“
“Brian took the plumbing end of a kitchen rebuild and hit every date he gave our builder. He also caught an old galvanised run behind the plaster before it became our problem.”
Owen R.Bellmore · Kitchen rough-in“
“Our kitchen line closed up twice a year and everybody just cabled it. These people jetted it, dropped a camera down, found a sagging section and told us what to do about it.”
Gail P.Islip · Drain jetting“
“Split pipe at eleven on a February night. Carol answered on the second ring, talked me through shutting the water off, and a van was outside inside the hour.”
Frank G.Babylon · Emergency call“
“They moved us off oil and onto gas and dealt with every bit of the town paperwork. The cellar was tidier when they left than when they arrived, which I did not expect.”
Lucia M.Brentwood · Gas piping
How it goes
What Actually Happens After You Call the Shop.
The part homeowners dread is not the plumbing itself, it is not knowing what the job will cost or who is going to turn up. So here is the whole sequence, in order.
1
Somebody Here Picks Up The Phone
Carol or Brian answers. Tell us what you are seeing, hearing or smelling and you get a straight view on whether a van goes out today.
2
We Work Out What Has Actually Failed
A camera, a gauge, a torch, whatever the job needs. Nothing gets priced until we can say out loud what has failed and why it failed.
3
You Approve One Fixed Number
One figure, handed over at the door before a tool leaves the van. Find something hidden in a wall and we halt, show you, and re-quote there.
4
The Job Gets Done And Tidied
Dust sheets first, and whatever we take out goes away in the van. Permit jobs are filed by us, and one of us stands with the inspector.
5
The Rest Gets Checked For Free
Valves, pressure, the heater, any pipework we can see. You get told exactly what we found, and none of it turns into a sales call later.
Out of Lindenhurst, covering western Suffolk and the south half of Nassau.
Where we go
From Valley Stream Out to Medford.
Four vans out of one shop, so nobody is dispatching you from two counties west. Anywhere on the list below normally sees somebody inside the hour.
Planned work is quoted at no charge: a heater changeout, a bathroom rough-in, a line renewal. Where a fault has to be traced before anybody can price it there is a call-out charge, and that gets credited against the repair once you give us the work.
Across western Suffolk and the south of Nassau the average is about seventy-five minutes on a live leak or a cold house. If every van is committed Carol will tell you that on the phone instead of booking you a slot she cannot keep.
A master plumber licence for the county we work in, plus liability and workers' compensation cover and a bond. Copies travel with the first quote. This site is a demonstration, so no real licence numbers are printed anywhere on it.
Western Suffolk and the southern half of Nassau, worked out of the Lindenhurst shop. Anything between Valley Stream and Medford sits inside the normal run; further east depends on what the day looks like.
We do. Heaters, gas runs, sewer work and anything structural go in front of the town, and one of us is there for the inspection. Nobody enjoys that part, but unpermitted gas work turns into a problem the day you sell.
A flat figure, written down, approved by you before anything starts. You are not paying by the hour while somebody drives to the supply house, and the invoice carries the number you agreed to.
Often, yes. On a renovation we will take the plumbing package and fit around whatever programme the builder is running, or we will price the wet side of the job and hold our own dates. Either way one of us is there on inspection day.
Homeowner notes
Some of It You Can Fix Yourself. We Are Here for the Rest of It.
Every message gets an answer from a plumber inside one working day. Some jobs have to be looked at before anybody can price them, and we would rather tell you that than invent a figure.

Every Visit Ends With a Free Look Over the Rest.
On the way out somebody checks the valves, the pressure, the heater and the pipework on show, then tells you where it all stands. None of it becomes a sales call. Half the emergencies we attend were obvious and cheap a season earlier.
