Most business disputes end in a settlement. We will tell you early which ones should, and on what terms.

What the work involves

Most of the practice is fights between people who once trusted each other: founders who fell out, earn-outs that never paid, and contract terms nobody read closely until discovery.

We put a number on the claim early and write down what it will cost to pursue. When the math does not work, you hear that from us before the first invoice rather than after the tenth.

Cases like these are usually won or lost on paper, not on memory. Witnesses remember selectively; documents do not. We press for documents early and a partner reads them personally, since the provable version of a dispute is rarely the version first told to us.

Roughly four out of five of these cases settle before trial. That does not change how we prepare them. The best settlement offers come from an opponent who can see you are ready to try the case, so we build every file for the courtroom and negotiate from that footing.

If the matter goes before a jury, the partner at counsel table is the one who answered your first call. The argument is never handed to a stranger, and no new face appears a week before the hearing.

Matters we see often

  • Partnership, LLC and joint-venture breakups, including oppression claims
  • Earn-out, indemnity and purchase-price disputes after an acquisition
  • Terminated distribution, exclusivity and non-compete agreements
  • Emergency TROs and preliminary injunctions in business disputes
