Owen Castellano

Owen has defended clients in Denver and Jefferson County courts for more than a decade. He started his career as a law clerk for a district court judge. Later he spent three years in a busy county public defender office before opening his own practice.

Clerking showed him how judges read motions and weigh testimony. He brings that perspective to every brief and every hearing he prepares. He reads each police report alongside the video, noting every point where the two disagree.

His practice covers DUI, drug, theft and assault charges, protection order hearings and record sealing. He reviews every piece of discovery himself. He visits scenes, requests body-camera footage early and interviews witnesses before memories fade.

Owen talks with clients candidly about risks and choices, so they can decide with a clear understanding of what each path may bring. He also explains how a case may affect jobs, housing and immigration status, so clients see the whole picture. After a case ends, he checks back with clients about record sealing once they become eligible.

He teaches a trial skills workshop for newer lawyers and spends free time restoring an old cabin near Buena Vista. He also restores vintage motorcycles and occasionally rides one of them to court.
