Coaches, credentials and the part of the floor each one runs. Names and credentials are illustrative for this demo build.

Jiu-Jitsu

Dario Velez

Head Jiu-Jitsu Coach

  • Black belt, sixteen years on the mat
  • Regional open division medalist
  • Twelve years coaching adults

Dario built the eight-week beginner lane that most of our adult members start in. He teaches position before submission, checks in with every pair during a round, and would rather you drill one escape well than collect ten.

Muay Thai and Boxing

Kiet Sompong

Striking Coach

  • Twenty-two amateur and professional bouts
  • Certified pad-holding instructor
  • Nine years coaching striking

Kiet runs the pad rounds and sets the contact level before gloves go on. His footwork drills feel simple for two weeks, then quietly fix your balance.

Kids Program

Renna Delacroix

Kids Program Lead

  • Youth coaching certification
  • Former collegiate wrestler
  • Seven years teaching children

Renna writes the monthly plan for every kids group and trains the assistants. Loud in the warm up, quiet in the technique block, which is why six-year-olds stay with it.

Inside the Room

A Room That
Rewards Showing Up

Ironroot is a single-floor training center in Cedar Park, Texas with 3,400 square feet of mats, a six-bag striking wall and a desk that answers the phone. We are not a fight team with a beginner class attached. The beginner lane is the front door, and most of the room came through it.

Classes are capped so coaches can watch every pair. Technique is broken into three parts and drilled slowly before the pace goes up. If you want to compete, two coaches will corner you. If you never want to compete, nobody will ask twice.

  • Step By Step Drilling

Every technique is broken into three parts and drilled slowly before the pace goes up.

  • A Floor You Can Trust

Mats are cleaned between every class and the equipment is replaced on a schedule, not when it fails.

  • No Experience Needed

More than half our members walked in with none. The beginner lane exists for exactly that.

  • Progress You Can Name

Coaches keep a simple skill sheet, so you always know the next thing you are working on.

The Assistants

Four More People
Watching the Floor

Assistants run the beginner lane, hold pads and keep the kids groups moving. Every one of them started as a member here.

Ines Marchetti

Beginner lane, adult jiu-jitsu. Eleven years on the mat, purple belt, and the person most new members meet first on a Monday morning.

Tobias Ffrench

Pad holding and boxing footwork. Six amateur bouts, a certified pad-holding course behind him and a habit of calling combinations two beats early.

Amara Oyelaran

Kids groups, ages five to eight. Former gymnastics coach who rebuilt our warm up so small children spend less time queueing.

Rory Kavanagh

Wrestling and mixed rounds. Collegiate wrestling background, and the coach who caps the intensity when a round starts running away.

What Our Members Tell Us

Reviews are illustrative for this demo, written to show how the layout carries long and short quotes side by side.

My daughter started at seven and could not stand still for a minute. Two years on she runs the warm up for the little group. Coaches never raised a voice, they just kept handing her one small thing to fix each week. We came for self defence and got a kid who finishes what she starts.

The 6:00 AM class means I train before work and my evenings stay mine. The plan is already on the board when I walk in tired, so I never have to think about what we are drilling. Eighteen months here and no injury layoff, which never happened at the last gym.

Devon A.Wrestling and MMA member

The contact level gets said out loud before every round, and the coach holds the room to it. That one habit is why I still drive across town three nights a week.

Forty-six, and I had never trained anything in my life. The beginner lane meant nobody could hurt me by accident while I learned to fall, frame and breathe. I joined the main round in week nine.
