Four Programs,
One Beginner Lane

Grappling, striking and mixed rounds for kids and adults. Every track below starts with people who have never trained, and every class is capped so coaches can watch each pair.

What Each Room Runs

Class length, what the block covers and who it is for. If two tracks look right, train both for a month and pick after.

Kids Jiu-Jitsu

Kids classes run 45 minutes: a movement warm up, one technique broken into three steps, positional games with a partner of similar size, then a quiet finish where coaches name what each child did well. Parents watch from the bench, and we send home a short note every month with what the group is working on next.

  • Balance and falling safely first
  • Size-matched partners in every game
  • Monthly progress note for parents

Adult Jiu-Jitsu

Adult jiu-jitsu runs 60 minutes with a technique block, a positional round and an optional free round at the end. Nobody is made to spar. The eight-week beginner lane covers posture, base, escapes from the bottom and how to tap early, which is the fastest way to stay in the sport for years.

  • Eight-week beginner lane
  • Optional live rounds, never required
  • Gi classes plus no-gi classes weekly

Muay Thai and Boxing

Striking classes pair you with one partner for the session: three rounds of technique, four rounds on the pads, then conditioning that uses your own bodyweight. Gloves and wraps are available at the desk for your first month. Sparring is a separate, invitation-only class on Thursday nights.

  • Contact agreed before every round
  • Loaner gloves for your first month
  • Sparring is a separate class

Mixed RoundsIntermediate

Wrestling and MMA

Mixed rounds are open to members with six months on the mat. The block runs takedown entries, clinch control and the first three seconds after a scramble. Conditioning is built into the drilling rather than tacked on, and the class caps at 16 people so coaches can watch every pair.

  • Six months on the mat to join
  • Capped at sixteen people
  • Takedowns taught from the clinch

Start Slow, Then Stay for Years

Inside the Hour

Sixty Minutes,
Four Blocks

Nothing about a class is improvised. Coaches write the plan on the board before the doors open, so you always know what the hour holds.

  • Warm Up, Ten Minutes

Movement, falls and shoulder work. No shuttle runs, no burpee punishment.

  • Technique, Twenty Minutes

One technique in three parts, drilled slowly with a partner your own size.

  • Positional, Twenty Minutes

The same technique inside a limited game, so you find it under a little pressure.

  • Optional Round, Ten Minutes

Free rounds for anyone who wants them. Sitting this out is normal and nobody comments.

Getting Going

Your First Week
In Four Steps

Booking a free class takes about two minutes and commits you to nothing. Here is exactly what happens after you send it.

A small group of adult beginners sitting on mats listening to a coach
01

Pick the Room

Tell us your age group and whether you want grappling, striking or both. We will name the two classes that fit.

02

Book the Free Class

Call the desk or send the form. We reply the same day with a time and what to bring, which is very little.

03

Walk In Early

Arrive fifteen minutes ahead. A coach walks you around the floor, shows you the mats and answers the awkward questions.

04

Train, Then Decide

Take the class, stay for a chat, then decide. Nobody signs anything on the first night at Ironroot.

  • The first class is free, with no card on file.
  • Loaner gloves, wraps and a uniform are at the desk.

Questions Before
Your First Class?

If the answer you need is not here, the desk will give you a straight one on the phone.

Do I need any experience to start?

No. Most people who book a free class have never trained. Adults start in an eight-week beginner lane and kids are grouped by age, so your first session is with people at the same point you are.

What should I wear to the first class?

Shorts or leggings and a fitted t-shirt. Bring a water bottle and leave jewellery at home. Gloves, wraps and a loaner uniform are at the desk for your first month at no charge.

How young can children start?

Our youngest group starts at five. Classes run 45 minutes and are split into two age bands so a five-year-old is never partnered with an eleven-year-old.

Will I have to spar or compete?

Only if you choose to. Live rounds are optional in every adult class, and sparring is a separate invitation-only session. Competition is something we support, not something we expect.

Can I put a membership on hold?

Yes. Holds are available in monthly blocks for travel, injury or work, and we do not charge a fee to restart. Ask the desk and it is done the same day.

Do you have parking and showers?

There are thirty free spaces in front of the unit and two showers with lockers. Towels are not provided, so bring your own if you are heading straight to work.

Thank you. This is a demo form, so nothing was sent. On a live site the desk would reply within one business day with a class time.

Send it and a coach may call or email you with open class times. Nothing is stored or transmitted in this demo build.
