Before your filler consult

By Mara Ellison, NP · July 12, 2026

A good filler consultation should leave you with a written plan, a price and a clear sense of what could go wrong. The questions below help you judge a provider by how they think, not just by their before-and-after photos.

  1. Who will do the injection?Ask for their license and how often they treat this area.
  2. What product will you use, and can it be dissolved?Hyaluronic acid fillers can usually be reversed.
  3. Why this area first?A thoughtful provider explains the order, not just the syringe count.
  4. How much will it cost, in writing?A clear quote avoids surprises on the day.
  5. What are the risks, and what would you do if one happened?
  6. When is the review?A two-week check-in should be part of the plan.
  7. What would you not recommend for me?The answer tells you a great deal.
The most reassuring sign at a consult is a provider who suggests doing less.

Red flags

  • Pressure to decide or pay on the same day.
  • No questions about your health history or medications.
  • Discounts tied to buying extra syringes.

Questions

Should I bring photos?

Yes. Photos of yourself from a few years ago are often more helpful than photos of other people.

Is a consultation free?

Ours is $75, credited to your first treatment, because it takes forty minutes and we do not want it to feel like a sales call.
