About this treatment
Dermal fillers are soft gels, most often made from hyaluronic acid, a sugar your skin already contains. Placed under the skin, they restore volume that thins with age, support areas that have flattened and smooth deeper folds. Hyaluronic acid fillers can also be dissolved by a provider if needed, which is one reason we use them for almost every area.
We plan filler in the order a face ages rather than chasing a single line. That often means a little support at the cheekbone before any work near the mouth, and it usually means less product overall. You hold the mirror through the appointment. Swelling and small bruises are common for a few days; results typically settle over two weeks and last six to eighteen months depending on the area and product.
Before any filler is placed we look at your face from the side, from below and at rest, because volume loss is easier to read in profile than in a mirror. We often find that support at the cheek softens the fold beside the mouth on its own, which means less product overall. We use a blunt cannula for many areas because it can reduce bruising, and a fine needle where precision matters most. Everything is written into your plan: the product, the amount, the areas and the cost. If the review at two weeks suggests a small adjustment, we make it then rather than adding more on the first day.

What to expect
Before, during, after.
Before: a consultation where we photograph your face at rest and in motion, go through your health history and write down a plan with a price.
During: numbing cream for fifteen minutes, then careful placement with a fine needle or a blunt cannula. Most appointments take forty-five minutes, and you hold the mirror.
After: some swelling and tenderness for one to three days is typical. We see you at two weeks to review the result together.

Questions
Asked at every consult.
- How long does filler last?
- It depends on the area and the product. Lips often last six to nine months; cheeks and chin commonly last twelve to eighteen. Your body breaks hyaluronic acid down gradually, so results fade softly rather than all at once.
- Can filler be reversed?
- Hyaluronic acid filler can usually be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase. It is one of the reasons we use it, and our nurse practitioner keeps it on hand.
- Will people be able to tell?
- Our aim is for people to notice you look well rather than that you had filler. We often recommend doing less at a first visit and reviewing at two weeks.
- Is bruising common?
- Some bruising is common, especially around the lips. Plan for three to five days before any event. Arnica and a cold compress can help, and makeup can be worn after 24 hours.
- What are the risks?
- Swelling, tenderness and bruising are common. Rare risks include infection, lumps and vascular events. We discuss these at your consultation and explain what we do to reduce them.
- How do I prepare for my appointment?
- Avoid alcohol for a day beforehand, and ask your doctor before pausing any blood-thinning medication or supplement. Arrive without makeup if you can, and allow an hour so numbing cream has time to work.
