A first visit a kid enjoys
Our team works the way good children's care always has, with a rhythm called tell-show-do. We tell a child what each step will be, in kid language, show them the little water sprayer on a fingernail first, and only then does anything happen in their mouth. Surprise is most of what frightens a child, so we take the surprise away.
The first cavity is never really about the tooth. It is about whether a kid decides, at seven, that the dentist is a scary place. Handled gently, it stays a small memory instead of a lifelong flinch, and that is worth more than any filling.
