Cleanings, gums, and the long game
A professional cleaning removes what a toothbrush structurally cannot: the hardened tartar below the gumline where the bacteria that cause gum disease quietly gather. We chart the depth of your gum pockets at each visit, so we can see a problem trending years before it becomes one, and we teach you the two or three small home habits that make the biggest difference for your particular mouth.
Sealants and fluoride are not just for children. A thin sealant over the deep grooves of a back tooth can head off a decade of fillings, and targeted fluoride strengthens enamel that has started to soften. Small, inexpensive, and boring in the best possible way.
Why the rhythm matters more than the rule
Twice a year is a fine starting point, not a law. If your gums are healthy and your risk is low, we may leave you on a six-month rhythm for years. If you have a history of gum trouble, we may suggest a three or four month interval, because the bacteria that drive it return within about ninety days of a cleaning. We set your recall around your own mouth and book the next visit before you leave, so it never quietly slips off the calendar.
