Come in
Slow food, low light, a deep cellar. Dinner in the old grain house.
A dining room built for long evenings
Six tables, one grill, and nobody hurrying you out

Sorrel is
A kitchen in the old grain house

About the room
The grain house held barley for eighty years before it held tables. We kept the hoist beam, the stone floor and the small windows, then added forty two chairs and a very long bar.

The card changes with what the gardens send up. Two mains are always meat free and the bread is baked in the same oven as everything else.
the kitchen
Grown, aged and fired within sixty miles
Picked
Two deliveries a day from the ridge gardens.
Aged
Beef and mutton hang four weeks in the cold room.
Fired
One oven, one grill, one cook since 1974.
Bookings
Hold a table

At the table
Four courses at a fixed price, or the whole card if you would rather build your own evening. The kitchen cooks for vegetarians without being asked twice.

In the cellar bar
Eleven wines by the glass, a short list of amber ciders, and somebody behind the counter who will talk you through all of it.
