Introduction to dermal fillers
Dermal fillers are soft gels, most often made from hyaluronic acid, a sugar your skin already makes. Placed under the skin, they replace volume that fades with age, add gentle structure where bone and fat have thinned, and can hydrate the lips from within. Because hyaluronic acid can be dissolved with an enzyme if needed, it is the only filler family we use.
Good filler work is mostly about restraint. A face rarely needs volume everywhere, and adding it in the wrong place is how people end up looking heavy or overfilled. Our nurses look at your face in thirds, from the front and in profile, and plan the smallest change that makes the biggest difference.
Areas we treat most often
Lips are the most requested area, from a subtle hydration treatment to a little more shape at the border. Cheeks come next, where a small amount of support can lift the midface and soften the fold beside the nose without filling it directly. We also balance a receding chin, define the jawline and, for carefully selected clients, soften hollows under the eyes.
Each area uses a different gel. Firmer products hold shape along bone, while softer ones move naturally in the lips. Your plan lists the product type and the amount before we start, so there are no surprises on the day.
What you can expect
Most filler visits take 30 to 45 minutes including numbing. Swelling is normal for the first two or three days, especially in the lips, and small bruises can appear. We suggest avoiding big events for a week after treatment.
- Numbing cream plus gels that contain a local anesthetic
- Swelling that settles over three to five days
- A two-week review to check balance and symmetry

How long filler lasts
Longevity depends on the area and the product. Lip filler often lasts six to nine months, while cheek and chin support can last a year or longer. Many clients return for a smaller top-up rather than repeating the first full treatment. If you ever want a result softened, a nurse can dissolve hyaluronic acid filler at a separate visit.
Aftercare and follow-up
For the first day, avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol and pressing on the treated area. Sleep with your head slightly raised for a night or two if your lips were treated, and use cold compresses in short intervals for swelling. Mild lumps can be normal early on and usually soften as the gel settles.
Call the studio straight away if you notice pain that is getting worse, skin that turns pale or dusky, or changes in your vision. These are rare, but our nurses are trained to respond quickly and the medical director is available on every treatment day. Your two-week review is included in the visit price.
