A dead outlet or a flickering fixture is easy to live with until the day it is not. Our lighting and electrical visits cover the swap-and-replace work most homes need: new fixtures, ceiling fans, dimmer switches and outlets that stopped doing their job.
Every job starts with the breaker off and a tester on the wires. We confirm what is behind the wall plate before we touch it, match the fixture to the box it mounts on, and leave you with switches that work the way you expect. Panel upgrades, new circuits and rewiring are handed to a licensed electrician partner.
We carry common wire nuts, mounting straps and switch plates on the van, and we recycle old fixtures and packaging for you. If the house has older wiring, we point out anything that looks worn so you can plan for an electrician before it becomes urgent.
Pick up your fixture ahead of time and leave it unopened near the install spot so we can check the parts together. Know where your breaker panel is and whether the circuits are labeled; if they are not, we label the ones we touch. Clear a path for a ladder and move furniture from under the fixture. For smart switches, have the app installed and your Wi-Fi password handy so setup takes minutes instead of an hour.
Send the fixture link or a photo of the old one. Heavy chandeliers and fans need a rated box, and we check that before the visit.
We shut off the circuit, test for voltage and inspect the box and wiring condition before any install begins.
Fixtures are mounted level, fans are balanced to stop wobble, and every connection is secured and capped.
We restore power, try each switch and setting with you, and take the old fixture and packaging away.
Electrical work is about doing the boring steps every single time. That is the part we never skip.
A voltage tester and a quick circuit map come before every install.
Fans and large pendants hang from fan-rated boxes, not plastic ones meant for a light.
When a job needs a permit, we say so and connect you with a licensed electrician.
Standard fixtures and switches start at $145 for the first item and less for each one after. Fans on high ceilings or ones that need a new brace are quoted after we see the space.
Compare visit plansAdding a circuit or running new wire is permit work, so we refer it to our licensed electrician partner. We can replace, upgrade or move devices on existing wiring when the circuit allows it.
Yes. We check the box for mounting hardware and the right canopy size before starting. If a part is missing we tell you before the install, not halfway through it.
Our ladders reach fixtures on ceilings up to 16 feet. Taller foyers and stairwells need scaffolding, which we quote separately.
Usually. Most wobble comes from a loose mount, a bent blade iron or unbalanced blades. We tighten, balance and test, and if the mounting box is not fan-rated we replace it.
We install the hardware, confirm a neutral wire is present, and walk you through connecting it to your app and home Wi-Fi before we leave.
Good light changes how a room feels. Send us a photo of the fixture you want gone and we will quote the swap before we arrive.
Hollis technicians cover Raleigh, Cary, Apex, Garner, Morrisville and Wake Forest from our office on Oakridge Commons. Weekday visits run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday mornings are open for smaller jobs, and every booking gets a two-hour arrival window plus a text when we are on the way.
