Most homes do not need a remodel, they need the details put right. A door that rubs, a baseboard that pulled away, a closet shelf that sags under one more box. Our carpentry visits focus on finish work, the pieces you see and touch every day.
We measure twice, cut on site with a dust-collecting saw, and fill, caulk and prime so the repair disappears into the room. If you want new built-in shelving or a fresh run of trim, we can plan it with you and build it in a day or two.
Our carpenters work with pine, poplar, MDF and PVC trim, and they will tell you which one suits the room. Bathrooms and exterior doors get moisture-resistant material, while living spaces can take whatever finish you prefer.
Tell us whether you want paint-grade or stain-grade trim, since stain-grade wood costs more and needs tighter joints. If you have leftover molding or paint from the original build, set it out, because matching is easier with the real thing in hand. Clear about four feet along the wall we are working on and a spot near the garage for our cutting station. Open and close a sticking door for us once so we can see where it binds.
Share photos or book a short estimate visit. We measure, talk through finish options and note any wood you want matched.
Materials and labor go into one written quote, including primer, filler and caulk, so the finish work is never an add-on.
Cuts happen outside or on a covered station with dust collection, then everything is fitted, nailed and glued tight.
Joints are filled and sanded smooth, then caulked and primed so the room is ready for paint or already finished.
Carpentry shows every shortcut. We take the extra hour so the joint you look at every morning stays tight.
Collection on every saw and floor protection from the door to the work area.
Filled, sanded and primed trim, with paint matching available on request.
We tell you when a repair makes sense and when a new piece will outlast a patch.
Door adjustments and short trim repairs usually run $179 to $320. Shelving and built-ins are quoted per project with a materials list you can review before we buy anything.
Compare visit plansMost common profiles are stocked at local suppliers, and we bring samples to compare. Older or custom profiles can often be matched by combining two stock pieces, and we show you the result before installing.
We prime every piece as standard. Full paint is available on the same visit, or we can leave it ready for your own painter.
We check the hinges, the frame and the strike plate. Most latch problems come from sagging hinges or a shifted strike, and are fixed by tightening, shimming or moving hardware.
Yes. We design around what you store, use hardware rated for the load and anchor into studs, then finish the shelves to suit the space.
Small sections of rotted trim, sills and door frames are a regular job for us. We cut out the damage, replace it with rot-resistant material, then seal and prime.
The details you notice every day are worth getting right. Show us the door, shelf or trim that has been bugging you and we will quote the fix.
Hollis technicians cover Raleigh, Cary, Apex, Garner, Morrisville and Wake Forest from our office on Oakridge Commons. Weekday visits run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday mornings are open for smaller jobs, and every booking gets a two-hour arrival window plus a text when we are on the way.
