When relaxers wear off
By Mara Ellison, NP · September 8, 2026

For most people, wrinkle relaxers last about three to four months. The effect starts to show around day five, peaks at two weeks and then fades gradually as the muscle regains movement. Where you are treated, how strong the muscle is and how often you have been treated all move that number.
That is the short answer. The longer one is more useful, because it explains why a friend's result lasted five months and yours faded at ten weeks.
What changes the timeline
- The area. The muscle between the brows is strong and compact, and many clients see it hold longer than the thin muscles around the eyes.
- The dose.A very light dose looks natural but fades sooner. We find the balance at the two-week check-in.
- Your metabolism.People who train hard several times a week sometimes notice a shorter window.
- History.Muscles that have been relaxed regularly can weaken slightly, so results often last a touch longer over the years.
The goal is not to chase every last week of effect. It is to plan the next visit before you notice you need it.
How we plan the next appointment
- Note the start. We record the date and dose at every treatment.
- Review at two weeks. We look at movement and adjust if one side needs a small top-up.
- Book by the calendar. Most clients rebook at twelve to fourteen weeks, before lines fully return.
Questions
Can I make it last longer?
Avoiding heavy exercise and lying flat for four hours after treatment helps the product settle where it was placed. Beyond that, consistent spacing matters more than any trick.
Is it bad to let it wear off completely?
Not at all. Many clients take a break over the summer. The muscle simply returns to how it was before.
