Cosmetic dentistry

A brighter smile that still looks like you

The best cosmetic dentistry is the kind nobody can point to. We brighten, even out, and reshape in a way that reads as a healthy version of your own smile, not a set of teeth borrowed from someone else.

Whitening, bonding, and veneers

Professional whitening lifts years of coffee and wine in a single controlled visit or with custom trays you use at home, always to a shade that suits your face rather than the brightest setting available. For chips, gaps, and worn edges, tooth-colored bonding rebuilds the shape of a tooth in one appointment, and porcelain veneers offer a longer-lasting answer for a fuller change.

Whatever the route, Dr. Hartley matches the work to the shade and shape of your natural teeth so it disappears into your smile. We would rather talk you out of a change that will not age well than sell you one that photographs nicely on day one.

Clear aligners

For mild crowding, spacing, or a tooth that has drifted, clear aligners straighten teeth gently and almost invisibly. We map the whole plan digitally first, so you can see the finished position before you commit, and we keep an eye on the bite the entire way, not just the front teeth in the mirror.

See the difference

The change we aim for, and the change we do not

Drag across the picture. The goal is the shade a healthy version of these teeth would already be, with the edges and the character left intact. Nobody should be able to point at the work.

After: brightened a few shades, with the natural translucency at the edges kept. Before: even teeth carrying years of coffee, tea, and red wine. Before After

Illustrative, for this demo. Individual results vary with your starting shade, enamel thickness, and the kind of staining involved.

The aligner journey

What straightening actually looks like, month by month

Clear aligners are a series of small moves, not one big one. Here is the whole arc, so you know what you are agreeing to before the first tray goes in.

01

A scan and a preview

A digital scan replaces the old putty trays. Within a week you see an animation of where each tooth will travel and where it finishes, and you decide from that, not from a promise.

02

Your first trays

You wear each set about twenty-two hours a day, taking them out to eat and to brush. The first few days of a new tray feel tight. That tightness is the tooth moving.

03

Quick check-ins

We see you every six to eight weeks, usually for ten minutes, to confirm the teeth are tracking with the plan. If one is lagging we adjust rather than push on and hope.

04

Polish and retain

At the finish we even out any rough edges, whiten if you want to, and fit a retainer. Teeth drift back for the rest of your life without one, so this step is not optional.

Worth knowing
6 to 8shades

A typical in-office whitening lift in our demo practice

Measured against a standard shade guide, and only ever taken to a shade that still suits your face. Deep grey staining from old medication moves far less, which is a conversation we would rather have before you pay than after.

Good questions

The things people ask about cosmetic dentistry

Not the answer you needed? Call (555) 216-0480 and ask a real person at the front desk.

Often for a day or two, and it fades. We use a desensitizing step before and after, and if your teeth already run sensitive we will usually recommend the slower take-home trays instead of the in-office visit.
They do involve reshaping the front surface, which does not grow back, so a veneer is a genuine commitment. That is exactly why we talk many people into bonding or whitening first and keep veneers for the cases that truly need them.
Usually five to eight years before it needs a refresh, less if you grind or drink a lot of coffee. It is the reversible, lower-cost answer for a chip, and we can always step up to porcelain later.
Whitening only lifts natural enamel, so existing porcelain and composite stay exactly the shade they are. When a front tooth carries old work, we whiten first, wait two weeks for the shade to settle, then match the new restoration to it.
They handle mild to moderate crowding, spacing, and drift very well. A severe bite problem or a tooth that needs real rotation is better served by a specialist, and we will tell you that plainly rather than take the case.
