Felony assault charge dismissed before trial

The police report told one side of the story. The bar's second camera told the other.
Our client was arrested after a scuffle outside a downtown bar and charged with assault in the second degree, a felony that put his job and his immigration status at risk. The police report relied almost entirely on the other man's account.
How we built the claim
We located a second security camera the police had not collected and interviewed two witnesses who had left before officers arrived. We then filed notice of a self-defense claim and shared the new evidence with the prosecutor ahead of the omnibus hearing.

Charge dismissed (illustrative)
After reviewing the footage, the prosecutor moved to dismiss the charge. Our client's arrest record is now eligible for sealing.
- Uncollected camera footage located
- Two independent witnesses interviewed
- Self-defense evidence presented early
- Dismissal before trial
