Settlement for a rider hit at a Tacoma intersection

A left-turning driver said our client came out of nowhere. The traffic camera said otherwise.
Our client was riding home along South 38th Street when an SUV turned across his lane. He suffered a fractured wrist and a torn shoulder that kept him off his warehouse job for five months. The driver's insurer offered to cover his emergency room bill and little else, arguing that he had been speeding.
How we built the claim
We requested city camera footage within the first week, before it could be overwritten, and retained a reconstruction engineer who measured sight lines at the intersection. We also documented his lost overtime with payroll records and statements from his supervisor.

$410,000 settlement (illustrative)
Faced with footage showing a legal speed and a clear view of the approaching motorcycle, the insurer increased its offer several times. The claim resolved before a lawsuit was filed.
- Camera footage preserved in the first week
- Independent crash reconstruction
- Lost overtime documented with payroll records
- Resolved without filing suit
