When a customer, vendor or co-owner conflict escalates, we assess the position quickly, protect the evidence, and look for the resolution that costs you the least in money, time and attention. Litigation is a tool, not a goal. Our first task in any dispute is an honest read of the facts and the documents, including the parts that do not help you. From there we lay out the realistic paths, from a direct call with the other side to mediation to a filed case, with a rough budget for each.
- Contract and payment disputes
- Partner and shareholder conflicts
- Mediation and state court litigation
If a matter does proceed to court, the attorney who assessed it stays on it. You get a written plan, regular updates without having to ask, and early notice before any major cost is incurred. Read our notes for owners for more on how we think about this work.
Approach
We prepare every dispute as if it will be tried, because that preparation is usually what makes a fair settlement possible. The other side can tell when a file is ready.
The strongest settlement position is a file that is ready for trial.
If a demand letter just arrived or a business relationship is breaking down, call us before you reply. The first response often shapes everything that follows.
