Otis's Limp
A same-day visit for a lab who came home from the dog park on three legs, and the rest plan that followed.

Otis's Limp
Otis, a five-year-old lab, came home from the dog park holding up his back leg, and his owner called us the next morning.
How we planned it
- Our team booked him into a same-day sick slot.
- An exam pointed to a sore knee rather than a paw injury.
- X-rays were taken while his owner waited.
- We explained the findings on screen together.
What we did
With no fracture on the X-rays, we started pain relief and a strict rest plan, and talked through signs that would mean a further look was needed.
Home care plan
- Leash walks only for two weeks.
- No stairs or jumping into the car.
- Pain relief with food, as prescribed.
- A check-in call after three days.
Follow-up
- At the call he was bearing more weight on the leg.
- A recheck at two weeks showed steady progress.
- Activity was increased slowly over a month.
- We discussed weight and joint care for the long term.
Where things stand
This is an illustrative story. Limping has many causes, and some need further imaging or referral; we will always tell you what we see.
