Hammam steam ritual
A private steam ritual in our travertine room. You start with twenty minutes of eucalyptus steam, then we lather you in soft olive oil soap, scrub with a traditional mitt and rinse with bowls of warm water poured slowly over the shoulders.
After the rinse comes a short rest on the heated stone bench, a clay wrap for the back and a final cool rinse. We finish in the lounge with mint tea and a light body balm, and there is no rush to leave.
The room is booked for one guest or one couple at a time, so the heat, the pace and the conversation are all yours to set.
Why guests choose it
The hammam tradition is centuries old and built around cleansing slowly, in good company, with plenty of warm water. We keep the spirit of it while making it private, quiet and comfortable for a city afternoon.
Most guests say the moment they remember is the warm rinse: bowls of water poured slowly over the shoulders after the scrub. It is simple, and somehow it feels like the whole week washes off with it.
Before you arrive
Eat lightly and drink water in the hour before your ritual, because steam is warmer than most people expect. Remove jewelry at home if you can; metal heats up quickly in the steam room.
Plan to spend about two hours with us in total, including changing, the ritual itself and tea in the lounge. There is no point rushing a ritual built around slowing down.
Afterwards
Skin will feel noticeably smooth after the mitt scrub, so give it a rest from exfoliants for a week. The body balm we finish with is enough; there is no need for anything heavy at home that night.
Stay out of the sun for the rest of the day and keep drinking water. Pair the ritual with a massage the same week if you can, since warm, freshly scrubbed skin loves the extra care.
Three rounds, one slow hour and a half

Scrub
Olive oil soap and a mitt scrub, head to heel.
Rest

Good to know
Never. Each ritual books the whole room for you, or you and one guest.
We keep the steam around 110 degrees and you can step out whenever you like. The therapist stays close by.
Nothing. Robe, slippers, wraps, hair ties and toiletries are all ready in your changing room.
If you are pregnant, have a heart condition or feel unwell, please choose a massage instead or check with your doctor first.
Monthly suits most guests. In the colder months some book every three weeks to keep skin soft.
You are welcome to, though our olive oil soap and balm are chosen to be gentle for almost everyone.

The room after the steam
Our lounge looks onto a planted courtyard with a small plunge pool. Stay for tea, read, or simply sit with nothing to do before heading back out into the city.
