Warm Stone Therapy

Smooth basalt stones, heated in water, carry steady warmth deep into tired muscles while your therapist massages around them.

Length: 75 minFrom $112

What happens in Warm Stone Therapy

Heat does a lot of the persuading in this session. Dark basalt stones are warmed in a water bath, checked against the wrist, then placed along the back, in the palms and between the toes while your therapist works around them.

Once the muscles have softened, the stones become tools: rounded edges glide along the shoulders and calves with more comfort than fingertips alone. The combination feels deep without the intensity of focused pressure work.

It is our favourite booking for cold months and for anyone who runs chilly. Guests often describe the first placement as sinking into a warm bath.

We finish with cool stones across the forehead for a crisp, awake ending before you head back out.

If you are new to heat treatments, your therapist will start with fewer stones and add more as you settle, so the warmth always stays comfortable and never becomes the focus.

Who it suits best

Warm stones are a gentle way to reach deep muscles, because heat does much of the softening. Guests who feel the cold, or who find firm hands too much, usually love it.

  • People who always seem to run chilly
  • Anyone who wants depth without firm pressure
  • Guests easing into a long, grey winter
  • Couples booking side-by-side rooms

Common questions

How hot do the stones get?

Warm, not hot. Every stone is checked against the therapist's skin before it touches yours and moved on straight away if it feels too much.

Is stone therapy suitable for everyone?

It is not advised during pregnancy, with some circulation or skin conditions, or right after sun exposure. If you are unsure, ask us before booking.

Does it replace a regular massage?

It includes full massage work, so it can. Many guests alternate it with Swedish Flow through the seasons.

How are the stones cleaned?

Every set is washed and sanitised after each guest and heated in fresh water for the next session.

What if I get too warm?

Say the word. We remove stones, lower the table heat or open the room up. Your comfort sets the pace.

Before you arrive

Avoid a long hot bath or sauna right before your session, and let us know about any circulation, skin or heart concerns when you book so we can adjust or suggest something else. Stone therapy is not offered during pregnancy. Arrive ten minutes early so the stones and the room are ready at exactly the right warmth.
