What the valley puts in our water
The short answer
Our spring rises warm from deep in the valley rock and carries natural minerals that give the water its soft, silky feel. We filter it lightly and let it flow straight into the pools.
Guests often ask why the water feels so different from a hotel pool. The short answer is that it has been travelling for a very long time before it reaches you.
Where the water comes from
Rain and snow soak into the hills above Sallowmere and sink slowly through the rock. Deep underground the water warms and picks up minerals along the way, then rises back up through a fault in the valley floor. The spring has been used for bathing here for well over a century.
Every pool is filled by the same spring. We simply give it somewhere nice to arrive.
How we care for it
- Pools are fed continuously, so the water is always moving
- Light filtration keeps it clear without heavy chemicals
- Every pool is drained and cleaned weekly
We do not make promises about what mineral water does for you, but we can say this: it feels lovely, it smells faintly of stone, and almost everyone leaves calmer than they arrived.

Quick questions
It is lightly filtered and monitored daily, with far less chlorine than a typical pool.
Natural dissolved minerals give spring water a soft feel that guests notice straight away.
It rises warm, and we gently adjust each pool to its posted temperature.

This is exactly how our first visit went, and the tea on the terrace was the highlight.

The cold plunge scared me the first time. By the third round I was looking forward to it.

Ten seconds is always enough the first time. See you next visit.
