Mineral mud ritual
Warm clay from the valley floor is brushed over the body, then you are wrapped in linen and a heated blanket to rest while it sets. As you lie still, your therapist gives a slow scalp and face massage with a little cedar oil. After twenty minutes the wrap is loosened, you rinse under a warm shower, and we end with a soak in a private stone tub by the garden window. The whole ritual moves slowly and feels deeply grounding. Guests on retreat stays often book it for their last afternoon.

What sets the mineral mud ritual apart
Meadow clay
The clay settles in the lower meadow each spring. We dry, sieve and mix it with warm spring water for a fine, creamy texture.
Linen cocoon
Once the clay is applied you are wrapped loosely in linen and a heated blanket, with a slow scalp and face massage while it sets.
Private tub soak
The ritual ends with a long soak in a deep stone tub by the garden window, with a pot of tea waiting beside you.
Questions about the mineral mud ritual
The wrap is loose and your arms can stay free if you prefer. Your therapist stays beside you and can open it at any moment.
It rinses away easily in the warm shower that follows, and we provide everything you need.
We do not offer warm wraps during pregnancy. Our gentle side lying massage is a lovely alternative.
Keep lunch small on the day of your ritual. Soup or fruit from the terrace kitchen is ideal, because a full stomach and a warm linen wrap make for an uncomfortable pairing.
It is one of the gentlest treatments we offer, with no pressure and plenty of rest. Many first time guests choose it because there is nothing to do but lie still in the warmth.
We provide disposable underwear for the ritual, so your own swimsuit stays in your locker. Any clay left on the skin rinses away easily in the warm shower.
Your therapist will offer two or three simple oils before the scalp massage, usually cedar, lavender or an unscented blend. Pick whichever feels right on the day.
Yes. We mix it with warm spring water just before your treatment, and the heated blanket keeps the warmth in while it sets.
You rest in the quiet room with tea for as long as you like. Guests often drift off for a little while, and nobody will rush you back out.
About twenty minutes. Your therapist stays with you, loosens the wrap when the time is up and guides you to the shower.
Yes. The ritual followed by 50 minutes of stone massage is one of our favourite long afternoons, and it includes circuit time.

Earth, warmth and stillness
The clay we use settles in the lower meadow each spring, and we dry and sieve it on site. It has a fine, creamy texture and a gentle warmth once mixed with spring water. The ritual is designed around rest, so the room is kept dim and warm, and your therapist stays with you throughout. If lying wrapped makes you uneasy, we can leave the arms free or use a lighter linen layer.
This is the treatment we suggest for guests who find it hard to switch off. There is nothing to do but lie still in the warmth, feel the clay set and listen to the rain on the roof if you are lucky enough to have some.
