The short answer

A gentle salt scrub lifts dry, flaky skin so massage oil glides evenly instead of soaking into rough patches. Book the scrub first, rinse, then go straight into massage for the smoothest, most comfortable finish.

Most people think of exfoliation and massage as two separate visits. In practice they work better together. When the top layer of dry skin has been buffed away, oil spreads further with less friction, and your therapist can use long, even strokes without catching on rough elbows or heels.

How the pairing works

A salt polish takes about twenty five minutes. After a warm rinse, your skin is clean, slightly warm and ready to take in oil. The massage that follows usually feels smoother and more continuous, and many guests say the whole body feels lighter than after either treatment on its own.

Guests always notice the difference in the glide. The same pressure feels kinder on freshly polished skin.

Timing tips for your visit

  • Avoid shaving or waxing for at least a day beforehand.
  • Choose the gentlest blend if your skin is easily irritated.
  • Allow at least two hours for scrub, rinse and a 60 minute massage.
  • Skip the gym afterward and give your skin the evening to rest.

If you only have an hour, a shorter back scrub followed by a 30 minute back massage is a good compromise. Ask for it when booking and we will set the room up for both.

Questions About This Post

Can I scrub at home before a massage instead?

You can, but keep it gentle and do it the day before rather than right beforehand, so your skin is not freshly sensitized.

Which blend is best for dry skin?

Sea salt with almond oil is our most nourishing option. For sensitive skin choose oat and honey.

Is it worth adding to every massage?

Not every time. Once a month or at the change of seasons is plenty for most people.
