Nine tours, one clear choice
A couple moving across town from Tempe came to us with a budget, a dog and a long commute they wanted to shorten. We spent the first call on their week rather than their wish list, then built a short list of eleven homes across two areas, each with a tour sheet covering sun hours, HOA rules on fencing and the drive to both offices at rush hour.
They toured nine homes over two Saturdays. The one they chose was not the prettiest on the list, but it had a north-facing backyard, the lowest summer bills of the group and a twelve-minute commute. Our inspection review found a tired pool pump, which became a credit at closing. They moved in thirty-four days after writing the offer.
Looking back, they said the tour sheets did most of the deciding. By the second Saturday they could rule a house out from the car, and the one they bought had been near the top of the list on paper before they ever walked in.
