The best time to plan help at home is before you need it. A little support with chores, meals or errands, started early, can make it easier to stay comfortable and independent in your own home for years.

Signs it may be time for some help

Families often notice small changes first: mail piling up, a fridge that is emptier than usual, missed appointments or a home that is harder to keep tidy. None of these mean a move is needed. They are signals that a little support could help.

Planning together

Five steps families find useful

  1. Talk openly about what is going well and what is hard
  2. List the tasks that would be most helpful to share
  3. Agree a budget and look at payment options
  4. Book a free home visit with a care coordinator
  5. Start small and review after a month

We started with two visits a week for shopping and laundry. A year later Dad is still at home, and much happier for it.
