A clinic built around the visit
Wrenfold opened in 2008 with two exam rooms on Carrow Lane. Today six rooms, an in-house lab and a team of fourteen care for about five thousand Richmond dogs and cats.

We start with the whole pet

Dr. Maren Holloway opened Wrenfold because she wanted a clinic where an exam was long enough to be useful. The first building was a converted dental office with two rooms and a waiting area that doubled as the pharmacy. The in-house lab came in 2014, and in 2019 the clinic moved to its current building, designed around separate waiting areas for dogs and cats and a treatment floor you can see from the hallway.
Every patient has one primary doctor who knows its history, and every visit ends with a written summary in plain words. When we recommend a test, a procedure or a medication, we tell you why, what it costs and what we will do with the answer. If there is more than one reasonable option, we lay them side by side and let you choose.
Wrenfold is a weekday-and-Saturday-morning clinic by design. That means steady, unhurried care during the week and Saturday mornings, and a clear plan for nights and Sundays: the message on our main number names the closest emergency hospital, and we forward your pet's history to them.

Small enough to know you
Doctors who stay
Both of our doctors have practiced here for years, and most patients see the same doctor at every visit, so history never has to be explained from scratch.
Answers on site
An in-house lab and digital X-ray mean most results come back during the visit, and the doctor can walk you through them before you leave the room.
Written estimates
Every procedure has a written estimate with a low and a high figure, and we call before going past the high one for any reason.
Same-day sick visits
Time is held each day for pets who are unwell, for new clients as well as existing ones, during all of our open hours.

Dr. Holloway sat on the floor with Juno for most of the exam. She explained the heart murmur with a drawing and called two days later to see how we were doing.
We came in as a new client with a vomiting puppy at four in the afternoon and were seen before five. The follow-up text the next morning was a nice touch.
My cat hates every vet. Here she got the quiet room, a towel that smelled like home and the whole visit was done in fifteen minutes.
The estimate for Rocco's dental had a low and a high number and the final bill landed right in the middle. No surprises.
