Maren grew up on a small farm outside Lynchburg and spent her teenage summers cleaning kennels at a country practice. She came to Richmond after veterinary school, worked for six years at a busy general practice on the north side, and opened Wrenfold in a converted dental office on Carrow Lane with two exam rooms and one technician.
Today she leads the medical team, reviews every surgical plan the week before it happens, and keeps Thursday afternoons open for longer conversations about chronic illness, quality of life and end-of-life care. Clients describe her as direct and unhurried; she would rather draw a diagram on the exam room whiteboard than hand over a pamphlet.
Outside the clinic she runs the James River trails with Juniper, a ten-year-old shepherd mix who came in as a stray in 2016 and never left.

How our team works
A technician reads your pet's chart before you arrive, so you are not asked the same questions twice.
Doctors share a weekly case round, so a second set of eyes looks at anything that is not improving.
One named person follows up after surgery, sick visits and new medications, by phone or text, your choice.
Staff train together every month on handling, pain scoring and anesthesia monitoring.

A carrier routine that makes the vet visit calmer
Leave it out, make it smell like home and cover it in the car. A week of practice changes the whole visit.
Brushing a puppy's teeth in thirty seconds a night
Start early, keep it short and stop while your puppy is still happy. Here is the routine we teach at puppy visits.
Book a visit for your pet
Share your pet's name and why you would like to come in, and the front desk will offer the next opening that suits you.
