Dentist in Plano, TXModern dentistry
for busy adults,
in fewer visits
Dr. Larry Tam and Dr. Johnny Chiem care for Plano adults on Custer Road with digital scans, same-day crowns and plans you can see on screen.
Convenient, modern, friendly dental care for adults in Plano
Custerpoint Family Dental is a general and cosmetic dental office on Custer Road in west Plano, led by Dr. Larry Tam and Dr. Johnny Chiem. Most of the people we see are adults: professionals fitting care around a workday, people getting back to the dentist after a long gap, and patients who need restorative work done properly the first time.
The office is built around convenience. An iTero scanner replaces impression putty, a low-radiation cone-beam CT handles 3D planning in house, and a Glidewell mill makes crowns on site, so most crowns are finished in a single appointment. Dr. Tam's shorthand for it is One Visit. Done.
Every scan and X-ray goes up on a chairside screen, so you see what the dentist sees and hear your options in plain language. Larger treatment comes with a written, itemized quote before anything is booked, we file PPO claims for you, and CareCredit is available if you would rather pay monthly.
We are open Monday to Thursday 9 to 5 and Friday 9 to 4 at the corner of Custer Road and Parker Road, a short drive from Allen, Murphy and Richardson. We see children and teenagers too, so your household can keep one office for every age.

Mon to Thu 9am to 5pm, Fri 9am to 4pm, closed weekends

Four machines that mean fewer, shorter visits
Dr. Tam equipped the office so the scan, the plan and often the finished crown all happen on Custer Road, without a lab trip in between.

iTero digital scanner
A wand captures your teeth in minutes. No trays of impression putty, and you watch the 3D model build on screen.
Low-radiation cone-beam CT
A 3D view of bone, roots and nerves for implants, wisdom teeth and hard-to-read problems, taken in the office.
In-office 3D printer
Models, provisionals and appliances printed here, which shortens turnaround and keeps the design specific to you.
Glidewell crown mill Milled here
Crowns shaped in the office from your scan, so most crowns are designed, milled and seated in one visit.
One Visit. Done.
It is Dr. Tam's own line, and it describes the most common crown visit here. The tooth is scanned, the crown is designed on screen and milled in the office, and it is seated before you leave. In his words, most crowns are scanned, designed and seated in one appointment.
No temporary crown
No plastic placeholder to wear for two weeks, and no second numbing shot.
No goopy impressions
The iTero wand takes a digital impression in a few minutes.
Designed to your bite
Shape and shade are set on screen against the teeth beside it.
Honest about exceptions
Some teeth still need two visits. You will know before you book.
